SteelSeries has launched new earbuds designed for Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PCs, and mobile devices. The $159.99 Arctis GameBuds offer active noise cancellation (ANC), Qi wireless charging, and quick switching between mobile Bluetooth and console or PC gaming.

I have been testing them for a few days, and they have been impressive, though I need more time for a full review.
The GameBuds resemble typical earbuds and come with various silicone tips for a comfortable fit. They use a four-microphone ANC system to block out background noise, with a transparency mode for situational awareness.
These earbuds connect to consoles via a USB-C dongle, providing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity. A triple-tap on the buds switches between Bluetooth 5.3 and the 2.4GHz connection for consoles and PCs, although they don’t support simultaneous audio over both like Sony’s Pulse Explore earbuds.
The mobile companion app stands out with over 100 audio presets for popular games like Call of Duty, Destiny 2, Fortnite, and Valorant, enhancing gameplay through customized EQ settings.
You can control ANC and transparency modes, adjust noise levels, and check battery life through both the mobile and desktop apps. The ANC is effective, but some ambient noise can still be heard at lower volumes.
SteelSeries claims the case provides 40 hours of total battery life, with each use lasting 10 hours. The case supports wireless Qi charging and fast USB-C charging, offering three hours of playtime with just 15 minutes of charging.
Though the GameBuds work across platforms, Xbox and PlayStation versions are sold separately. The Xbox model is compatible with all platforms, while the PlayStation model only works with Sony’s consoles, PCs, and mobile devices.
Pricing of the Arctis GameBuds
At $159, the GameBuds are priced below competitors like Sony’s $199 Pulse Explore and InZone Buds, and Razer’s $149 Hammerhead HyperSpeed. They offer ANC, Bluetooth, and wireless charging, filling a gap in the gaming earbud market.
Available in black and white, the Arctis GameBuds are now up for preorder and will be released globally on October 29th.
